Karen is an educator in every sense of the word. While most know her as a traditional educator teaching high school students at Sage Hill School in Newport Coast, California, Karen is also an experiential educator who is always teaching. "The only thing that that outweighs my passion for teaching," says Karen, "is my passion for always being a student. By teaching, I open myself up to learning from my students--traditional or otherwise--every day."

Karen's art is an extension of her teaching, and while she does enjoy teaching art to students of all ages, her art in and of itself is also a teacher. Each piece Karen sells, whether it is an original, a print or even a set of notecards, contains educational information about the subject.

Karen exhibits during the summer at the Sawdust Art Festival in Laguna Beach, and her involvement with the show is yet another extension of her commitment to education. The Sawdust Art Festival is an organization dedicated to educating the public, and, in keeping with that mission, Karen offers hands-on art workshops to the public during the summer.
